The Vespers is one of the really special pieces of choral music - blending influences from the Russian Orthodox Church with Rachaninov's high romantic style. It is full of stunning choral effects, with divisions into many parts, intensely atmospheric slow music altenating with with dance rhythms and, as you would expect, some very low notes from 'stunt' Basses.
All of this will take place at St Clement Danes, one of London's most famous Baroque churches ('oranges and lemons...') - designed by Sir Christopher Wren. The church of St Clement Danes is very easy to find - on the Strand, a short walk from Temple or Holborn tubes, with plenty of parking nearby.
