On our first appearance at St John's Smith Square ABC will be singing Bach's Christmas Oratorio.
If you have never heard this work before, it has a wonderfully uplifting quality, with a series of spectacular choruses in Bach's festive, trumpet dominated style, together with chorales and arias that paint a vivid picture of the Christmas story. We are making a selection across the six Cantatas in which the great choruses predominate, but will still be able to keep the performance at under two hour's duration.

We are most fortunate to be joined by four terrific young soloists, all current or recent prize-winners at the Royal College of Music. Foremost is the wonderful South African baritone Jacques Imbrailo, who won the Audience Prize at the recent Cardiff Singer of the World Competition.
Also performing are Cöthen Baroque, an exciting young period instrument ensemble resident in London.
Tickets are now on sale to the general public and are priced £18, £15 and £12 (£16, £13 and £10 for concessions).
Contact St. John's, Smith Square box office (tel: 020 7222 1061 or www.sjss.org.uk/pages/BookingInfo/bookinginfo.htm).
This splendid occasion should be a perfect start to all of our Christmas celebrations.
